Melanie Mobile Shower System   Melanie Stationary Spa with Built-in Flushing capabilities Saves time • saves money • saves the dignity of your residents and CNA’s For many nursing homes and health care facilities, the process of bathing residents hasn’t changed in 50 years. Being rolled down a public hallway in an old style, lightweight PVC shower chair can be humiliating. In some cases it can be a source of spreading C-DIFF within the facility. (See diagram on back) The Melanie Stationary Spa is the perfect solution. It allows caregivers the choice to bathe residents with an easy-to-enter unit. It provides the convenience of a built-in flushable sanitary toilet for use during instances of incontinence, and replaces the old shower chairs, which are difficult to clean, unsightly and can be a hotbed of infectious spores. The Melanie Spa is designed to capture all waste and dispose of it without any discomfort or danger to the resident. Installed as a normal toilet replacement, its smooth surfaces ] and fresh water flushing system prevent any build up of unsanitary conditions. The past & the present

No longer will your CNAs have to wheel draped residents down public hallways before and after their baths. With the Melanie Spa in place, the indignity and spread of infections can be greatly reduced. Incontinent accidents during bathing are dealt with easily and the patient’s self esteem is retained. By combining a regulation built-in toilet with the bathing experience, what once was a least-favorite task becomes a manageable solution.

The Melanie Spa is packed with features designed
to make the once tedious chore of resident bathing
a thing of the past. More importantly, it helps
prevent the spread of C-DIFF by containing and
disposing of its source. Below is a scenario that the
old shower chair system can be subject to.

The Melanie Spa has a tilt-up rolling seat that allows for quick and safe clean up.

The convenience of a self contained built-in toilet makes problems from incontinent accidents a thing of the past.

  The Spread of C-Diff

"C-difficile is shed in feces.  Any surface, device, or material (e.g., commodes, bathing tubs, and electronic rectal thermometers) that becomes contaminated with feces may serve as a reservoir for the C. difficile spores.;  Dedicate equipment whenever possible.;  Ensure adequate cleaning and disinfection of surfaces and reusable devices."

"Most experienced nursing staff members would have no trouble guessing a CNA's least favorite job on an Alzheimer's unit----bathing."

"Additionally, C difficile is most common infectious cause of acute diarrhea illness in long-term-care facilities.  Even when an outbreak is not going on, the prevalence of C difficile colonization in long-term-care facilities ranges from 4% to 20% compared with less than 3% in healthy adults."

A button behind the occupant’s head triggers the flushing mechanism. Fresh clean water washes away any waste along with the water used for bathing.
