Is it possible to install the Acorn
Superglide Stair Lift myself? |
 |
Absolutely! In fact the Acorn Superglide has been
designed with self-installation in mind. There is no complex or
potentially dangerous mains electricity wiring to contend with - the
stair lift simply plugs into your wall outlet, just like any other
domestic appliance and the stair lift is attached directly to the stair
treads - not the wall, so there is no unsightly damage or alteration to
the structure of your customers home.

What tools will I need? |
 |
Because the Acorn Superglide is custom built for
your stairway and all of the settings are fixed at our manufacturing
plant, you will need only the most basic of tools to complete the
installation. Essentials are:
 |
 |
 |

 |
| 10mm wrench |
Adjustable wrench |
Screwdrivers
Spade ended & X Head
(phillips type) |
| Tip:
An electric cordless screwdriver with an extension bit, will make
fastening of the rail brackets to the staircase much easier - but it
is by no means essential. |
|
 |
Are there any hidden costs? |
 |
None whatsoever. The total
price quoted covers all of the equipment, including the fitting kit and
a video guide to installation. |
 |
Once I’ve ordered an Acorn Superglide stair
lift, how long will it be before it’s delivered to me? |
 |
We
appreciate that when the need for one of our stair lifts has been
realized, people want it fast! We work closely with global carrier UPS,
who will deliver your Acorn Superglide within 5 working days of your
order. While other companies are sending brochures - you’ll be busy,
regaining the freedom of your home, travelling back up and down
stairs! |
 |
The user of the stair lift has some problems
bending their knees - or the stairway is quite narrow. Will the Acorn
Superglide fit? |
 |
Shouldn’t be a problem! We have a option called the
Acorn
Superglide Perch. It is particularly useful for those with limited
knee articulation and for installations where the stairway is unusually
narrow. If the staircase is at least 26" (66cms) wide, the
Acorn
Superglide Perch will do the job. |
 |
What kind of warranty does Acorn offer? |
 |
If any component should fail, due to faulty
manufacture, during the first year of ownership, Acorn will replace it
free of charge. After that, we can supply you with spares at very
competitive rates. One point to remember though... the Acorn Superglide
is a very, very reliable piece of equipment, engineered to the highest
standards. We have more than 35,000 customers worldwide and problems are
extremely rare. |
 |
Can I work on the equipment myself? |
 |
Anybody with a reasonable level of Do-It-Yourself
competence and a logical and methodical approach to practical work will
be comfortable working on the Acorn Superglide. You can access wiring
diagrams and technical specifications - and order replacement parts,
on-line. It goes without saying that technical assistance is just an
e-mail or a phone call away. |
 |
What is the maximum weight that the Acorn
Superglide will cope with? |
 |
The standard maximum user weight is 290lbs -
however, we can supply a heavy duty motor as an extra cost option that
is suitable for users weighing a maximum of 350lbs. |
 |
The stairway has a turn in it. Can I still
install an Acorn Superglide stair lift? |
 |
In many cases, yes. If the stairway has a
sub-landing at the turn, it’s often possible to fit two straight stair
lifts and save yourself $$$$ on the price of one curved-rail lift.
Please contact us and we will go through all of the options available to
you. |
